Today’s poem was something that I wrote from the perspective of one of my characters, Ysabel, from the Four Seas.
Her character is basically an extrapolation of the princess trapped in the tower trope. She’s stuck in a precarious situation but also exactly where she has always wanted to be. Conflicted & confused she’s having a tough time justifying the means that got her here.
I also couldn’t decide how I wanted this one to go, so in this haiku I have a sort of bonus, alternative line.
Soft, sweet, eternal
bliss. I would miss you only
(You’re never far away)
You won’t let me leave.
