An eye for an eye

About thirty seconds ago, I groaned. Ugh- I don’t know what to write. And then I opened up a blank note, and wrote the first line that came to mind. And then words literally *flooded* onto the page.

It’s crazy how we try and throw up these mental barriers that get in the way of our art. But the moment we create an opportunity for it come through, it shows up.

Crazy.

Anyway, here’s another Taylor swift song, which I have to give a nod to. Have you watched the long pond sessions on Disney Plus? It’s super good. I swear I’m not a swiftie. I mean— who cares. But, I tend to get a tad obsessive with things when they hit right.

Anyway, she breaks down the idea of the mirror ball as being someone who breaks themselves into little shards in order to give everyone else pleasure and enjoyment. And that idea popped in my head while writing and it kept the words coming. So thanks, TS!

I couldn’t be more

honest

with you

if I tried

these broken

pieces of me

lie

in patterns

scattered

but the whole

is there

for you to

find

it’s in these

moments

i don’t mind

if I break a

little more

watch me

shine

a mirrorball

reflects you

and you’re

mine

I trap you

spirit, body, and

mind.

To what favor

do I owe, if

I should be so

kind

to give you

my words

line by line

there’s no

going back

now, I can’t

ask you to be

blind

to the errors

I sow— an

eye for an eye
